An orchestra that leaves nobody seated
Amsterdam Funk Orchestra was founded in 2014 and has become a familiar name in Dutch clubs and at festivals, on both the jazz and the pop circuit. Since 2024 the band has been led by Brazilian-born, Netherlands-based Lucas Figueiredo Santana.
The band knows its classics — Fela Kuti, James Brown — but is just as at home in lesser-known funk, such as Brazilian samba soul. The large rhythm section with doubled percussion makes this a band that will not let you stay seated.
